Lauren's field trip to Mrs. Effie's farm

At Mrs. Effie's Farm, the children were able to make apple cider. Lauren is grinding up the apples that she tossed inside. All the apple guts go down below, then the children took turns pushing the pole that pressed the juice out the apples. Later we got to drink the cider which was very yummy!
These are the sweet children in Lauren's preschool class. The little girl to the left of Lauren is Faith, her best little friend.
Faith, Lauren and Lucy huggin'!

Grant's First Day of School

Grant started first grade one week late due to a high fever and headaches that turned into a very miserable cold. He was so nervous for school especially knowing that all the kids had started the prior week. He put on a brave face that morning but after I got him situated in his class and left, he started to cry. He was crying so hard that Mrs. Ellinger let him sit out in the hall to collect himself. When I stopped in to see him at lunch, all his classmates let me know that Grant missed me and had cried. His classmates are so loving and kind. They are very protective of Grant because of his allergies and remind their parents often of Grant's allergies! Even after being at school for a month Grant still struggles being there. He would rather be at home. He asks Andy often if I could home school him. Funny he doesn't ask me, probably because he knows he would hear a resounding NO! Pray for my tenderhearted Grant to adjust to his new routine.

Lauren's First Day of School

Lauren was so excited for her first day of school. She chose to wear her favorite purple dress. She is sporting a new backpack with wheels, so she can pull it like a suitcase. She had a wonderful first day and made a new friend, Faith. She continues to play with Faith everyday at preschool. Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers for a special friend for Lauren!

sickness, sickness go away. . .

If this late summer is any indication of how our winter is going to be health wise, you can find me in Hawaii on the beach by myself! Grant missed the entire first week of school in August due to a high fever, headaches that turned into an incredibly stuffy nose. Last week he missed Monday and Tuesday because the stomach bug hit our house starting with me then Grant and finally Lauren. YUCK! During the Hawkeye game on Saturday night, he started running another fever which he still has, so he will miss Monday for sure and he is already making plans to be home on Tuesday too! Rachel has a stuffy, runny nose and enjoys pulling a tissue out of the tissue box then running to the garbage can to throw it away - unused!!! It is not even October. Please pray for God's healing hands upon us and my sanity!

A Royal Wedding took place at our home this morning. Princess Lauren asked her handsome Prince Daddy, "Are you going to marry me or not"?!!! With that kind of proposal, he immediately whisked her off to the living room where they began the royal dizzy dance! They lived happily ever after!
It was the cutest thing those two dancing around! Daddy is truly her handsome prince. She looks at him with those big blue eyes all dreamily with such trust and love and adoration. So precious!
